Hi, I’m Khushi!
Firstly, I’d like to thank you for visiting my website and supporting this cause. It is one very dear to my heart; it makes me incredibly happy to hear that it matters to others, too.
Symphony started as a question: How can I incorporate music into my every-day life? I’ve been singing since I was old enough to talk (that is, if my two-word, repeating babbling while banging pots and pans counts as a song). While I was vocally engaged in school choir programs, I was unhappy with the uniformity of the repertoire, and yearned for something more me, something in which I could choose the songs I sang. I’ve always admired live musicians, after all. But the question remained: How was this going to be achieved, and how could I go about it in a way that incorporating music, leadership, and empathy?
That is where Symphony was truly born. My grandparents visited one summer from India, and after they expressed true, utter joy at hearing me sing Taylor Swift and Billy Joel all in one breath on car rides, I realized that music transcends all language. My grandparents don’t know much English, and they are getting older, but they found themselves engaged and excited. Music touches people’s hearts. Their souls. It unites people who have nothing alike, and those who do. It creates long-lasting relationships and unbreakable communities. Music is a joy, and I am lucky to get to share it with the geriatric communities of the Mainline, and better their days through the joy that is music.

I suppose I choose it on a whim; if I thought too hard, I'd never pick! But additionally, I believe that we are symphonies, with orchestras and bands and choirs. Each part of us is different and unique, and yet they compliment each other perfectly to become what we see: the whole, finished person. Sometimes the orchestra plays louder than the choir, and the clarinet players aren't in tune. But all together, we are, as people, symphonies of beauty, magic, and creation "Symphony" as a name is to remind me to thank all my parts for making me who i am.

Because it is an in-person organization, Symphony team members and myself have to stay close to home. Currently I am working with a memory care facility in PA, but we are looking to expand in the future. Keep a look out!

My grandparents play a large role in it. I am privileged to say I spent a boatload of time with them as a small child, and it allowed me to get to know them on a deeper level. Seeing them get older deeply saddens me, but seeing them smile is also one of my greatest joys. I also realized that the mental health and wellbeing of the geriatric communities of America is a cause that many have strived for, and music therapy is something I believe deeply in. Combining those brought me to Symphony's creation! Everyone deserves to receive music that makes them smile.

That's a great endeavor! Currently, however, Symphony has not expanded past the Pennsylvania suburbs, and our team needs to be able to commute to attend or give in-person performances. You can, however, send in any questions, comments, or concerns, in the "contact me" link above. They are received directly by me (Khushi Narayanan), and I will get back to you immediately.
